Need a Nanny?

We can help you find the perfect Nanny for your families needs. Nannies give you flexibility by offering part time, full time, temporary and permanant childcare with hours to suit you!

Playschool Nannies is also proud to introduce a brand new childcare option to the market – Demi Nannies.

A Demi Nanny is very similar to an Au Pair but instead of sourcing overseas candidates for the role (which have become very limited due to pandemic border restrictions), we utilise local Nannies who are ready to care for your children now! Demi Nannies live in as part of your family, we offer different levels of experience from beginner through to intermediate childcare experience and are ultimately much more affordable than a traditional Nanny.

Families

That’s right, every child under 5(or 6) enrolled on our Playschool Education programme will receive a non-income tested child subsidy of between $1.20 and $4.20 per hour* (up to 30 hours per week) to help pay their Nannies wages! We take the guess work out of finding exceptional childcare

Playschool Nannies has a fantastic database of Professional Nannies, Demi Nannies and Babysitters who are carefully chosen because they have a passion for children.

With each candidate, we follow a strong recruitment process which includes:

  • Comprehensive Interview(s)
  • NZ and overseas Police vetting and qualification checks
  • Identification checks
  • In-depth reference checking by our experienced team of Placement Experts
  • Experience checks to ensure each candidate has obtained the right level of experience for the role they are applying for
  • Employment Agreement and Job Description templates
  • On-going support by our qualified team plus monthly in-home support visits from our qualified Teachers for those who qualify for the Playschool Education programme

Each Nanny is interviewed in person (where possible), where we will gain a full understanding of their employment history and experience. We will also look into their values, personality, teaching style and passion for the childcare industry. Once we have this information, we can successfully match your family with the perfect Nanny. We wont recommend a Nanny for your family unless we truly believe they have the right experience and attributes for the role.

Please see below for information related to welcoming a Nanny, Demi Nanny or Babysitter into your home – then fill in the on-line registration form and we will be in-touch to discuss any further details required to create a profile for your family and role.

Playschool Nannies prides itself on the support we give you during the entire process – we offer tools such as Employment Agreements, Job Descriptions, and interview Q&A ideas. We are here to guide you every step of the way and are always available to answer questions via phone or email.

What type of Nanny is right for our family?

We offer a range of services including Permanent and Temporary Nannies, Demi Nannies, and Babysitters.

Nannies

The most recognised and common type of professional in-home childcare.

Nannies can be live-in (if you have the space) or most commonly live-out and fill roles that are full or part-time on a fixed-term or on-going contract lasting over 4 months.

Nannies offer a range of experience from new to the childcare industry but with a can-do attitude, to having years of experience under their belt – think Mrs. Doubtfire types. Their qualifications can range from hands-on experience to holding a Certificate in Nannying (Cert. Nannying) or even a Degree in Early Childhood (B.Ed ECE) possibly more! Regardless of what you are looking for, we can find the perfect Nanny for your family and your individual role.

Demi Nannies

Demi Nannies are especially perfect for families unable to find Au Pairs (due to current travel restrictions) or for families looking for a more affordable in-home childcare option.

Demi Nannies live in as part of your family, offer some previous or beginner childcare experience and are ultimately much more affordable than a traditional Nanny.

Demi Nannies can work anywhere between 25 and 50 hours per week to support your families needs and care for up to 4 children of any ages. Because they live with you and you become their ‘Demi family.’ They offer reduced childcare costs in return for benefits such as a furnished room, meals, internet and potential use of a car.

Unlike Au Pairs, we ultilise local talent, therefore, Demi Nannies are ready to care for your children now!

Temp Nannies

All the skills and experience of a standard Nanny but available and happy to fill any short-term role your family has. From a one-off half-day when your regular Nanny calls in sick to a full-time role up to 4 months in duration, or anything in between, a Temp Nanny is the perfect fit for you. Having a wedding or a party and need multiple Temp Nannies? No problem – we can assist you too.

Babysitter’s

Babysitter’s are perfect for families who need someone reliable and responsible to care for their children on a casual or on demand basis.

Perhaps you need a childfree night out, someone to watch the tweenagers over the weekend, or you need someone to drop what they are doing and get to your home within 2 hours. We have THAT babysitter for you and offer a text service to arrange a babysitter on-demand.

Our Babysitters come in all shapes and sizes and most importantly they too are referenced checked and police vetted so you can be assured that they are responsible and suitable to meet your babysitting needs as they arise.

Funding that can assist with your Nannies costs

Playschool Nannies provides the Playschool Education programme through our affiliation with Playschool Education Ltd who is licensed by the Ministry of Education. We are also both WINZ and OSCAR approved. This allows families who employ a Playschool Nanny a number of different types of funding that may be available to them to use towards the cost of their Nannies costs.

Playschool Education child subsidies – $ 1.20 per hour, NON-income tested.

For those children who are under 3 years and enrolled on the Playschool Education programme, Playschool Nannies pays a non-income tested subsidy for each child. The subsidy rate is $ 1.20 per hour and each child is able to claim a maximum of 6 hours per day, 30 hours per week of child subsidies which is based on your child’s enrolled hours.

20 ECE hours funding – $4.20 per hour, NON-income tested.

Every child aged 3-5 years (or up to 6 if they are not yet attending school) is entitled to access up to 20 ECE hours of funding. This means for any allocated ECE hours, you are enrolled in the Playschool Education programme, we will then contribute $4.20 per hour towards your Nanny’s Salary.

Each child is able to allocate up to 6 hours per day, 20 hours per week of ECE funding across all ECE services. This means if your child uses two types of childcare such as a Nanny and Kindy then you will only have 20 ECE hours to use across both childcare services and you must decide where is best to allocate your 20 hours. In most cases, you will benefit most from a financial aspect by allocating your ECE hours towards your Nanny’s salary. Our Placement Experts will be able to advise you on how best to allocate your funding to get the best financial outcome for your family.

WINZ and OSCAR subsidies – up to $6.00 per hour, income tested

WINZ subsidy payments are available for any children under 5 years of age (or 6 if they have not yet attended school) being cared for by a Playschool Nanny and live within our licensed areas. WINZ subsidies are an income-tested subsidy available to low-income families, single parents, and some other family situations. Individual subsidy rates can vary based on the financial circumstances of the parents, but payments of up to $6.00 per hour and up to 50 hours per week are available. If you think you may qualify for WINZ subsidy payments we can help you to complete an application form to be submitted to WINZ. WINZ payments incur a weekly admin fee of $10 per child, which covers the costs associated with administering the payment. For more information, you can also visit  www.workandincome.govt.nz

OSCAR subsidy payments are the same as WINZ subsidy payments but are for children who attend school and are being cared for by a Playschool Nanny either before or after school within our licensed areas. OSCAR subsidies are also an income tested subsidy available to low income families, single parents and some other family situations. Individual subsidy rates can vary based on the financial circumstances of the parents, but payments of up to $6.00 per hour and up to 20 hours per week during term time and 50 hours per week during the holidays are available. If you think you may qualify for OSCAR subsidy payments we can help you to complete an application form to be submitted to WINZ. OSCAR payments incur a weekly admin fee of $20 per child, which covers the costs associated with administering the payment. More information you can also visit either www.workandincome.govt.nz

The process of finding the perfect Nanny

Once we have completed your Family Application and Agency Engagement Agreement we will start the matching process. In some cases we may already have the perfect Nanny enrolled with our agency and in other cases the best course of action is directly sourcing the best Nanny for your role through a number of different channels. In all cases we will post your vacancy to our website unless for privacy reasons you request we do not make the role public. As each families needs are different the time involved in finding the perfect Nanny can vary from a week to a month so wherever possible allow enough time so that we really can find the best Nanny for your family.

You will receive profiles of potential Nannies who best match your requirements via email. As all our Nannies are pre-vetted and interviewed, once you have decided who you would like to interview, we will organise a time for this without delay. The number of Nannies you interview will vary from just one to a number that feels right for YOU. Every family and every placement is different and we will support you every step of the way.

Post-interview, we follow up with both yourself and the Nanny – getting feedback and answering any questions you may have. If you decide to offer a position to a Nanny, we will organise this and any paperwork that needs to be completed – this includes a Placement Agreement and Job Description.

Once employment has begun Playschool Nannies will keep in touch with both yourself and the Nanny and provide ongoing support. If you qualify for the Playschool Education Programme you can expect a sign-up visit within the first week of your Nanny starting with you. For those families with older children we are here 7 days a week to provide all the support and guidance you may need to make your Nanny successful in their new role.
